TANGLETOWN GROWN fresh produce can be enjoyed by your family during the Spring and Summer growing season by becoming a member of our popular CSA program or by picking up produce as you need it at the garden. Our produce is sustainably grown at Tangletown Gardens' growing facilities near Plato, Minnesota. We have been enjoying ultra fresh, ultra flavorful seasonal produce from our own gardens for many years and are now able to share them with you, our guests, every day of the week. It is an easy, fun way to become connected to what we eat using the tastiest varieties and earth-friendly practices. We have long standing kitchen favorites as well the most flavorful heirlooms.
In addition to our Tangletown Gardens pick up location on Wednesday and Thursday, we also offer a CSA share pickup at FULTON BREWERY in downtown Minneapolis Tuesday afternoons.
Join our Farm Fresh Food Share program to receive weekly deliveries of the best vegetables the Midwest has to offer. All produce is grown locally on our 100-acre farm and green house facilities in Plato, Minnesota. It’s the same location we sustainably grow our outstanding selection of annuals, perennials and woody plants you have come to rely on to make your gardens a success. Invest in the health of your family and your community with a Tangletown Gardens Farm Fresh Food Share. Because Scott and Dean are committed to both great tasting food and sustainable farming, Tangletown’s Farm Fresh Food Share is a great opportunity for you to have a big impact on your health, your family’s health, and a whole lot more.
Our farm freshness will bring you back to a time when people knew where their food came from, ate in harmony with the seasons, and enjoyed a delicious, healthy diet of pure, fresh foods -- a time when our food was bursting with flavors, when sweet corn truly had sweetness, tenderness and texture. Now you can look forward to August and that true tomato flavor with your first bite of a juicy, just-picked, sun-ripened tomato- proving once again that some things are worth waiting for! Tangletown Gardens will be there for you every step of the way with the quality and creativity that you've grown to expect.
Why Our Farm Fresh Food Share is sustainable.
We are proud that our plants are grown using principles of sustainable agriculture -for us it is the only way we’ll grow. For us sustainability isn’t just the latest buzzword, but a responsible way to grow the best quality vegetables, herbs and fruits for you, while respecting the earth and yielding an amazing array of varieties and intense flavors. We do not use chemical fertilizers, or herbicides on our produce, choosing instead to grow flavorful, nutritious food, using sustainable natural methods. We regularly seek natural pest control options to control insect and disease challenges when they arise.
When you buy food from our local farm your money circulates locally and you reduce your environmental impact-- the food you eat travels less food miles. We want to help you, our friends and neighbors, buy local, sustainably grown, seasonal food directly from a farmer you know and trust. Farm to table is good for you and at Tangletown we make it easy with our Farm Fresh Food Shares.
With all the choices out there, why Tangletown’s Farm Fresh Food Share?
"In season" is what food shares are all about. Whatever is ripe and delicious for the week goes into your box picked at the peek of flavor and nutrition, washed, and carefully packed. Delight in the challenge of seasonal eating through our Tangletown Gardens Farm Fresh Food Share program and you’ll be making a commitment to your health at a far less-than-retail cost! You and your family will have the regular pleasure of opening a box of both anticipated and unexpected vegetables and cooking fabulous meals for the duration of the growing season.
Grocery stores know no seasons. What we have gained in convenience, we have lost in flavor, freshness, nutritional value, and our connection to each other and to the land. At our farm we have 130 acres to play with and we grow 100’s of new and old varieties of vegetables each season to test and try. We are always conducting trials to determine which varieties are truly the best. We look for varieties with outstanding flavor and nutrition that will excite your palate and beautify your dinner plate rather than for uniform size, shape, color, and long shelf life.
“Full-Share” of produce for a household of four or two vegetarians for $585.
"Half-Share"of produce for a household of two or one vegetarian for $385.
Full Shares have some extras not included in the Half-Share packages.
Shares are conveniently delivered weekly to Tangletown Gardens in Minneapolis, on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 3:00 pm and closing, and Tuesdays from 4-6 at FULTON BREWERY downtown.
Throughout the season, members will also receive weekly newsletters, recipes, and produce storage tips. Farm Fresh Food Share participants will be the first to hear of special farm events with priority ticket offers. Tangletown Gardens is planning farm tours and dinners with local and national chefs to connect diners to the land and the origins of their food.
