We are a trend-forward garden center and gift shoppe. We pride ourselves in revolutionary thinking that is out of the mainstream retail shops, nurseries, landscape design firms, farms, and garden centers. This way of thought is necessary to create a sustainable and thriving future, and the only way we can truly be leaders in what we do. We are a spot with staying power because we are constantly evolving and setting trends. Our goal is to inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and experiment with design. We want your personality to shine through design, unique plants, and garden art with the emphasis on the details.
What we do.
We are passionate about doing it right. From how we treat our soil, to how we merchandise our Shoppe, to how we design a landscape, we do it with intention and care. We believe everyone can and deserves to live a beautiful life. We encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and look at things differently. We take this approach in our Garden Center by bending and breaking the rules of design and at our Farm by growing food and plants in a sustainable and groundbreaking way.
At our heart of Tangletown Gardens is our Farm in Plato, Minnesota. We practice principles of biological agriculture and ecological restoration. Big words, but simply put, our growing approach produces beautiful, strong, and healthy plants without any harmful chemicals and their unintended environmental consequences. This is something we can all be proud of. Along with plants for our Garden Center, we grow fresh produce and we humanely raise animals. These make their way to our weekly Farm Direct program, our seasonal CSA Shares, and to the market and menu at Wise Acre.
How we started.
Principals Scott Endres and Dean Engelmann are both farm boys, growing up on their families’ farms and learning a love and appreciation for plants, animals, and growing. Preserving the land for future generations was their priority. Our Tangletown Team has decades of experience in teaching, research, plant production, ecological farming, design, and garden center management. These diverse backgrounds but common goals helps to make us who we are. Our knowledge and passion is all encompassing because we feel that is the only way to be good at what we do. Our knowledge ranges from picking the perfect fruits and vegetables for our summer CSA Shares, to humanely raising animals for our food sources, growing unique and high quality annuals, perennials, and houseplants and providing you with the best designers possible. We do this all with a wealth of knowledge and passion. We do it for you.
